Welcome to Opal’s book Reviews

Hi, My name is Opal. I'm using my mom's account to publish my own blog. In this blog I am going to Review books- some for school and some for just fun.

For my first book I am doing “Nancy Drew the Hidden Staircase.” This is the second book in the series. This a good book in my opinion. I liked the fact you don’t know who the bad guy is until the end. I like in the first chapter you get a throw back to the first book “The Secret of the Old Clock” which I think was brilliant. I think that at the end of chapter 1 and beginning of chapter 2 the fact that Nancy had a hard time deciding between her father and her friend is really important. The line says “the young sleuth was in a dilemma.” which is so cool because it comes back later. You see her struggle because her father is missing and she is stuck in the middle of two cases– her father and the Twin Elms ghost. I like this approach to things as you see her bond with Helen, her Aunt Rosemary, and Aunt Rosemary’s mother. I recommend this book, not just because I love mysteries, but because it pulled me in and didn’t want to let me go. The plot was awesome and I hope the rest are just as cool. I love this book and I think it works for young teens. So please let me know what you think and if you have some books you think I should try next!
